Located near the northeastern corner of Oklahoma, Broken Arrow is known for being part of Oklahoma's Green Country region with its lush wildlife and diverse geographical makeup.
In the early 20th century, for the first few decades of Broken Arrow's existence, it was a small agricultural town. The city didn't grow much during the first half of the 20th century, but in the 1960s, it began to grow from a small town to a major suburb of Tulsa.
The city has experienced exponential growth over the last half of the century. The population swelled from 11,000 in 1970 to 50,000 in 1990, and in 2000, well over 74,000. Currently, it is now the largest suburb of Tulsa, sitting at right under 112,000 residents.

At this time, cannabis is only legal for medical use in Oklahoma, and patients must obtain an Oklahoma-issued medical marijuana card to gain access.
From 1933 to 2015, all forms of cannabis were illegal. With one of the highest incarceration rates in the country, Oklahoma was known for prosecuting offenders with some of the country’s harshest penalties.
In 2014, a medical marijuana legalization initiative was put on the ballot. However, it was unable to qualify due to a lack of signatures. The following year, HB 2156 was passed by the legislature, permitting Oklahomans with specific severe ailments access to CBD oil.
In 2018, Ballot Question 788, one of the country’s most liberal cannabis propositions, was placed on the state ballot. Many said it was even more liberal than California's Prop 215, and it turned out to be just what Oklahoma's voters wanted. The measure was approved by 57%, allowing Oklahoma to join the nation’s marijuana majority. As a result, Oklahomans can:
These possession amounts are cumulative, meaning that a licensed resident can have any combination or all of these amounts simultaneously and legally.
Oklahomans are not required to be diagnosed with a specific medical condition to get access to medical cannabis. Unlike many states, Oklahoma’s medical cannabis initiative allows patients to receive cannabis recommendations at the sole discretion of their physician.
Oklahoma does not have a list of qualifying conditions for medical marijuana. This decision is left entirely up to your physician. Here are some of the more common conditions for which Oklahoma medical marijuana doctors often recommend cannabis:
