Florida residents and seasonal residents with qualifying medical conditions are eligible to apply for the state’s medical marijuana program. A licensed Florida physician must recommend medical cannabis treatment and submit their recommendation for the patient to the state.

The OMMU allows cannabis recommendations for the below qualifying conditions as well as “medical conditions of the same kind or class as or comparable to the others listed.”

• (ALS) Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig’s Disease)
• Cancer
• Crohn’s Disease
• Epilepsy
• Glaucoma
• Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
• Parkinson’s Disease
• Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
• Medical conditions of the same kind or class as or comparable to those listed above
• A terminal condition diagnosed by a physician other than the physician issuing the certification
• Chronic nonmalignant pain

Currently, the only way to access legal cannabis in Florida is by having a medical marijuana card. And even after adult-use sales begin, medical cannabis patients can expect to enjoy a range of benefits not available to recreational consumers.

It costs just $179 to get your initial MMJ evaluation with one of NuggMD’s Florida state-licensed medical marijuana physicians. Follow-up evaluations are just $159! Florida charges a $75 annual fee for patient and caregiver medical marijuana applications. This cost is in addition to the cost of your medical evaluation and follow-up.

Cannabis, whether medical or recreational, remains federally illegal. This status prohibits health insurance from covering medical cannabis as treatment. This may change as legislation develops.

You can see your doctor as soon as the same day once you sign up with NuggMD.  Once your application is submitted, the state will notify you of its status between 7 and 21 days. So the sooner you start, the better!

If you sign up and pay for your evaluation, but then cancel before your evaluation, there is a small $10 fee for the payment processing. Once you’ve been certified, a refund for services will no longer be available. Please send an email to support@nuggmd.com with the subject line “Refund Request” and a brief description of your issue. We want to make sure you’re 100% satisfied with your purchase being that you, the customer, are the most important thing to us! Once a refund has been initiated, please allow 3-5 business days for the funds to transfer back to the card you used for the transaction. A refund is no longer available more than 30 days after the date of your evaluation. If any issues arise, please feel free to reach back out for further assistance.

Of course! You have the right to see any licensed Florida physician to renew your medical marijuana recommendation. Whether you got your card with NuggMD last year or a different physician, NuggMD’s Florida-licensed physicians are standing by.
