Fill out a 30-second, confidential questionnaire. We’ll send it to one of our available medical marijuana doctors for review.
Our state-certified medical practitioners are standing by to help answer your questions and evaluate your cannabis needs. Don't forget to tell the physician if you need a caregiver.
Once you’re approved, you’ll receive your physician recommendation form via email, along with instructions for registering in the state's online application portal.
Getting your recommendation with NuggMD is fast and easy, but the state can take up to 30 days to process your medical marijuana license. That’s why it’s best to start as soon as possible! Your Oklahoma certification and med card are valid for two years.
Unlike most other states which have qualifying conditions for medical marijuana, Oklahoma has no specific list of qualifying conditions. This decision is left entirely up to the doctor’s judgment. Any Oklahoma doctor who is licensed and in good standing can recommend cannabis. NuggMD’s physicians are licensed and in good standing in Oklahoma and fully qualified to recommend cannabis.
Some patients choose to have – or are required to have – a designated caregiver who can purchase, transport, possess and administer cannabis products for them.
Your physician must designate the caregiver on the Physician Recommendation Form. A caregiver application may not move forward without this written designation from the physician.
Caregivers can care for up to five licensed patients. Adult patients may only have one caregiver. Minor patients can designate up to two caregivers. Registrations expire on the same day that the patient's registration expires.
To qualify as your caregiver, they must:
Caregivers cannot:
There is no caregiver application fee.
Follow the instructions once you start the NuggMD process to fill out your application. Make sure you enter all of your information accurately to avoid possible delays in your processing. When you’re approved, your NuggMD medical marijuana doctor will send you your certification form via email.
Once your doctor completes this process, you’ll complete your state registration via their online portal. You’ll need to enter all of the requested information and pay the state registration fee of $100.
You must renew your medical marijuana card in OK every two years.
Thankfully, the process for how to renew your Oklahoma medical cannabis card isn’t complicated. And NuggMD makes the process even easier!
Whether you got your initial recommendation with NuggMD or another doctor or service in the state, our medical marijuana doctors are standing by.

Oklahomans 18 and older with a diagnosis from their physician can participate in the program. Oklahomans 18 and under must have recommendations from two independent physicians and an adult caregiver. Visiting out-of-state patients with a state-issued medical marijuana card from their home state (not just a recommendation) can obtain a temporary MMJ ID that's good for 30 days. In some counties, but not all, parolees and probationers can use medical marijuana. Check with your county DA to learn more.

Unlike other states, there isn't a list of specific qualifying conditions in Oklahoma. This decision is left entirely to the doctor's judgment.
For now, having an OK med card is the only way for Oklahoma residents to legally purchase and possess cannabis in the state. Oklahomans qualified a ballot initiative to vote on cannabis legalization in November, but the vote has been delayed by several lawsuits attempting to block or delay legalization. The vote for cannabis legalization will be set by the Governor sometime between January 2023 and the November 2024 election.
Oklahoma charges a $100 state registration fee to obtain a two-year medical cannabis card. You may qualify for a reduced fee if you have a current Medicare or Sooner Care card or proof of veteran’s status.
Patients are also responsible for the cost of a required medical evaluation, which can be completed through NuggMD with no risk because you’re only billed if you’re approved for medical cannabis.
Health insurance won't cover the cost of your medical marijuana products because cannabis is still considered illegal under federal law. This may change in the future if the federal government legalizes cannabis.
Your physician will issue your certification within 24 to 48 hours of completing your evaluation. Oklahoma's law requires the OMMA to complete medical marijuana patient applications within 14 business days. It's best to start your state registration as soon as you receive your certification to avoid delays.
With NuggMD, you are ONLY charged for your evaluation if you are approved. We believe everyone deserves access to a qualified medical cannabis doctor, and the cost of an evaluation shouldn’t be a barrier.
You’ll only be charged if you’re approved for your medical marijuana certification. If not, your evaluation is free! If you sign up and pay for your evaluation, but then cancel before your evaluation, there is a small $10 fee for the payment processing. Once you’ve been approved and issued your recommendation form, a refund for services will no longer be available. Please send an email to support@nuggmd.com with the subject line “Refund Request” and a brief description of your issue. Patients won't receive a refund for failure to follow through with their certification process once the practitioner completes the certification requirements. It is the patient's responsibility to complete their certification. If you're stuck or having trouble completing your certification, please reach out to customer service and our agents will help you through the process. We want to make sure you’re 100% satisfied with your purchase being that you, the customer, are the most important thing to us! Once a refund has been initiated, please allow 3-5 business days for the funds to transfer back to the card you used for the transaction. If any issues arise, please feel free to reach back out for further assistance.
Yes! You can see any Oklahoma state-licensed MD, DO, or podiatrist to get your medical marijuana renewal evaluation. All NuggMD practitioners are licensed in the state for which they provide evaluations and have acquired all state-required cannabis training and certifications.
This depends on the state to which you're traveling. Each state has different rules regarding reciprocity, and some don't allow it at all. Check with your destination state to learn more.
Yes, but the list of acceptable ID is short. You'll need an unexpired OK driver's license or ID, a Tribal ID accepted by the Department of Public Safety, or a US passport or other photo ID issued by the U.S. government to apply. In addition, you're going to need one document to show proof of residency in the form of the previous year's OK tax return, or a utility bill from the previous month, including TV or internet, but not cell phone.
For a complete list of documents needed for an Oklahoma medical marijuana card, see the OMMA's Adult Patient Checklist.
