When Can You Get a Medical Card in Idaho?

Checkmark

We’ll be the first to offer online cannabis evaluations once Idaho allows them.

Idaho is one of four states in the U.S. to classify cannabis as fully illegal (no adult-use cannabis and no access with a recommendation). Idaho residents who favor legalization are encouraged to contact their legislators.

What are Idaho's qualifying conditions?

Each state has their own set of “qualifying conditions” and most don’t need medical proof that you have it. For now, Idaho doesn’t have an active medical cannabis program.

Checkmark

Medical cannabis is not legal in Idaho. The state will establish a list of qualifying medical conditions once medical marijuana is legalized in the state.

Frequently asked. Frequently answered.

Idaho hasn’t legalized medical cannabis yet. When it does, it is expected to carry similar age, residency, and qualifying condition requirements as other states.

Idaho hasn’t legalized medical cannabis yet. When a program is established, it will include the state’s list of qualifying conditions.

A state’s list of qualifying conditions for medical cannabis is usually maintained by the government office responsible for making the rules of the program and running it. In many states that’s either the state’s department of health or a cannabis control board. When Idaho legalizes, if your condition isn’t on the list, it may be possible to petition the office responsible for medical cannabis to have it added.

Once medical cannabis is finally legalized in Idaho, having a medical card will likely be the only way to legally purchase and possess cannabis in the state.

Idaho hasn’t legalized medical cannabis yet.

Cannabis, whether medical or recreational, remains federally illegal. This status prohibits health insurance from covering medical cannabis as treatment. This may change as legislation develops.

Idaho doesn’t currently have a medical marijuana program, and patients are unable to get a med card either in person or online using services like NuggMD.

With NuggMD, if you’re not approved get your money back, automatically. We believe everyone deserves access to a qualified medical cannabis doctor, and the cost of an evaluation shouldn’t be a barrier.

If you’re not approved for your medical marijuana certification, your evaluation is free.

If you sign up and pay for your evaluation, but then cancel before your evaluation, there is a small $10 fee for the payment processing.

Once you’ve been approved and issued your certification, a refund for services will no longer be available. Please send an email to support@nuggmd.com with the subject line “Refund Request” and a brief description of your issue.

We want to make sure you’re 100% satisfied with your purchase being that you, the customer, are the most important thing to us! Once a refund has been initiated, please allow 3-5 business days for the funds to transfer back to the card you used for the transaction. If any issues arise, please feel free to reach back out for further assistance.

Idaho doesn’t currently have a medical marijuana program.

Once Idaho establishes a medical marijuana program, your ability to use your card in other states will depend on the state to which you’re traveling. Each state has different rules regarding reciprocity, and some don’t allow it at all. Check with your destination state to learn more.

Idaho will provide rules for med card registration once medical marijuana is legalized in the state.
