Any Vermont resident with a qualifying condition can sign up for the medical marijuana program once their doctor provides a certification. Patients under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian acting as a caregiver.

The list of debilitating medical conditions is maintained by the Department of Consumer Protections. As such, the Department Commission has established a Board of Physicians, all of whom are state-licensed physicians and surgeons. This board will be responsible for recommending to the Department of Consumer Protection other debilitating medical treatments, or diseases that should also be eligible for the use of medical marijuana. Not only that, but the Department of Consumer Protection has laid out regulations on medical marijuana to allow members of the public to present a petition to the Board if they wish to recommend other qualifying medical conditions or treatments.
Save on taxes: Recreational users will pay between 20% and 21% in taxes. Medical users are exempt from these taxes.
Higher possession limits: Patients can possess two ounces of cannabis in public. Recreational users are limited to one ounce.
Higher purchase limits: Recreational users are limited to just one ounce, but medical purchase limit is two ounces.
No THC limits: Not only can you buy more cannabis, but there are no potency limits. Recreational users are limited to 30% THC flower, and 60% THC concentrates.

It takes just minutes to sign up and get your evaluation, but the state of Vermont takes up to 30 days to review your patient application. If approved, you’ll receive your card at the address provided in the application.
This depends on your specific condition. Chronic pain patients must renew every year, by law. All other patients are only required to renew every three years.
Absolutely! You have the right to see any doctor you choose for your annual evaluation. If you’re switching physicians, be sure to bring your medical records from your last evaluation and any medical records you have related to your condition. This will help your doctor conduct a thorough evaluation of your condition.
Your renewal evaluation in Vermont costs the same low rate as your initial evaluation when you use NuggMD, and there’s no risk because patients who don’t qualify for the program will get their evaluation for free! After their evaluation, MMJ patients are also responsible for Vermont’s $50 state registration fee.
If you’re not approved by your NuggMD doctor, you won’t be charged for your evaluation. So, there’s no risk to you!
You’ll only be charged if you’re approved for your medical marijuana certification. If not, your evaluation is free! If you sign up and pay for your evaluation, but then cancel before your evaluation, there is a small $10 fee for the payment processing. You can also change your mind after your evaluation if you wish and request a refund, but you must do so before your certification has been submitted to the state. Once you’ve been certified, a refund for services will no longer be available. Please send an email to support@nuggmd.com with the subject line “Refund Request” and a brief description of your issue. We want to make sure you’re 100% satisfied with your purchase being that you, the customer, are the most important thing to us! Once a refund has been initiated, please allow 3-5 business days for the funds to transfer back to the card you used for the transaction. A refund is no longer available more than 30 days after the date of your evaluation. If any issues arise, please feel free to reach back out for further assistance.

This depends on the state your traveling to. Many states offer reciprocity agreements with other states’ medical marijuana programs. However, the extent of this reciprocity varies. Some states only allow patients to possess cannabis, but not to purchase it in the state. Other states only offer reciprocity to patients with conditions listed on their qualifying conditions list. Check with the medical marijuana department in the state to which you’re traveling to learn more.
Yes you can! In Vermont, only patients are allowed to cultivate their own cannabis. Patients can cultivate six plants and six seedlings at a time and may keep the cannabis they cultivate at home.
Minors can become patients with the express permission of their parent or guardian, and the parent or guardian must apply their caregiver and be approved by the state.
Complete the caregiver application and turn it in with the $50 fee. Your application will include a criminal background check. You must be over 21, a resident of the state, and not have been convicted of a drug related crime. The fee is not required if the applicant is the caregiver of a minor patient.
The first caregiver of a minor patient can apply for free. Any additional caregivers for that patient will be required to pay the $50 application fee.
