How to be a medical cannabis caregiver in Washington

Medical cannabis patients in Washington can opt for a designated caregiver or provider to purchase and/or grow cannabis for them. Once the patient selects a provider, they will have them listed on their authorization form. Each party will receive a completed form on tamper-resistant paper that they will sign. The provider will be registered into the medical cannabis database and receive a provider recognition card.

Patients may only have one provider, and a physician may only assign one provider to one patient. Providers may not consume the cannabis they obtain for the patient for their personal use. Providers may be added and removed from the database and patients may change providers with the approval of their physician and a new authorization form.

To qualify as your caregiver, they must:

  • Be at least 21 years old or older
  • Named on the patient medical cannabis authorization form
  • Have a fully completed form also printed on tamper-resistant paper
  • Be entered into the medical cannabis database
  • Have a designated provider recognition card
  • *For minors* Be the parent or legal guardian of the patient
  • Comply with terms and conditions of RCW 69.51A

Caregivers cannot:

  • Use the patient’s cannabis,
  • Be the patient’s doctor,
  • Serve more than one patient

The first reshipment is free if the request is made within 30 days of your evaluation. Thereafter, each reshipment request will cost $20. We want to make sure you are 100% satisfied with your purchase being that you, the customers, are the most important thing to us. If any issues arise, please feel free to reach back out for further assistance.
