Visit the Utah state cannabis portal and create an account. This is where your doctor will submit your recommendation if you're approved for treatment with medical marijuana.
Make an appointment with a licensed doctor to get evaluated for medical marijuana treatment. If approved, the doctor will submit your application through the state's online portal.
Once your doctor submits your application to the state, you’ll need to log onto the Utah cannabis portal to fill out the remaining information.
The state can take up to 90 days to review and deliver your medical marijuana card. If approved, your medical card is valid for six months.
Medical cannabis patients in Utah can opt to have a caregiver to help them maintain their medical cannabis treatment. Caregivers must register with the state but a patient but first designate them on their patient application.
Once the application is complete, the fee is paid, and the caregiver submits a background check, the state will review the account within 15 days. If all the requirements are met, the state will email the caregiver their card.

Patients with qualifying medical conditions and a licensed doctor’s recommendation are eligible for the state’s medical cannabis program.

Cannabis is still federally illegal so many health insurance companies will not cover the costs associated with medical cannabis treatment.

If you sign up and pay for your evaluation, but then cancel before your evaluation, there is a small $10 fee for the payment processing. Once you've been certified, a refund for services will no longer be available. Please send an email to support@nuggmd.com with the subject line “Refund Request” and a brief description of your issue. We want to make sure you're 100% satisfied with your purchase being that you, the customer, are the most important thing to us! Once a refund has been initiated, please allow 3-5 business days for the funds to transfer back to the card you used for the transaction. A refund is no longer available more than 30 days after the date of your evaluation. If any issues arise, please feel free to reach back out for further assistance.
NuggMD does not currently offer its services in Utah. When our services are available, we will work with state-qualified practitioners so patients can renew quickly and easily online.
This depends on the state to which you’re traveling. Each state has different rules regarding reciprocity, and some don’t allow it at all. Check with your destination state to learn more.
