Getting a Medical Marijuana Card in Oklahoma

Since the passing of SQ 788, Oklahoma has become one of the largest medical marijuana programs in the country. In 2019, Oklahoma's medical cannabis market exploded with growth far outpacing competing markets, such as Illinois, Maryland, and Ohio. With over 200,000 registered cannabis patients, local entrepreneurs rushed to get licensed and operational to supply the increasing demand.

Who knew Oklahoma’s had such an affection for cannabis?

Oklahoma’s cannabis market is about as close to a free-market economy as possible, which has likely been a contributor to their explosive growth. SQ 788 created an optimal environment for running a business and it’s very patient-friendly too!

Unlike many other state medical marijuana programs, patients in Oklahoma aren’t required to have specific ailments to get their cannabis certification. That’s a huge deal! In Oklahoma, doctors are able to exercise their professional medical opinion rather than having to abide by a list of approved ailments generated by policymakers.

So with the explosion of business and tax revenue, it’s clear that medical cannabis is here to stay. So why not join the thousands of other patients and get started on your medical marijuana card today? Read on to find out what it takes to get one!

The Most Affordable Medical Marijuana Card in Oklahoma

In Oklahoma, it is not mandatory that patients have their cannabis evaluations done at a physical doctor's office. That means that if you want a cannabis evaluation, you don’t have to go into an office to get one—heck, with recent advances in telemedicine, you don’t even have to leave your couch!

NuggMD’s secure online portal allows you to connect with a state-licensed physician in a matter of minutes and conduct your cannabis evaluation right from the comfort of your own home.

The typical cost for a first-time, in-person medical marijuana examination is $150. However, there are other potential associated costs such as:

  • Commuting time,
  • Taking time off of work,
  • Exposure to sick patients,
  • And the plain inconvenience

Plus, we're sure there are other things you’d rather be doing instead of slogging through the snow to sit in a stuffy waiting room.

On top of everything else, you won’t have to sacrifice a high-quality doctor's appointment. Our HIPPA-compliant, telemedicine platform enables convenient, yet thorough evaluations that leave patients feeling informed and empowered to get the medicine they need.

NuggMD provides quick, accessible, and low-cost medical marijuana examinations for only $99!

How Much is the Oklahoma State Medical Marijuana Card Registration Fee?

Once you’ve completed your medical examination and have received a physician certification, you will need to fill out and submit your application for the state license.

The fee for the state’s medical marijuana application is $100. However, if you're on Soonercare, Medicare, or are a disabled veteran, you are eligible to pay a reduced fee of $20. Once you're ready to apply, make sure that you provide documents to prove that you qualify for the reduced fee (i.e., your SoonerCare or Medicare I.D. card or any enrollment documentation.)

Whether you’re paying a reduced rate or the full amount, that fee is to be paid directly to the state department and is a separate cost from the medical evaluation.
