  • To get a Nevada medical marijuana card, you must first create an account on mmportal.nv.gov and then receive a physician's recommendation for the use of cannabis. Then, you can submit your signed application packet via mmportal.nv.gov.

  • No. NRS 453A.210 states clearly that a person must prove their residency in the state in order for a Nevada doctor to issue a medical marijuana card. However, Nevada extends reciprocity to patients authorized for medical cannabis use in other states.

  • Yes, individuals authorized for medicinal cannabis use under their state laws are deemed to hold an equivalent Nevada registry card.

  • Yes. There's no age limit for the program. The state requires patients under 18 to have the approval and supervision of a parent or guardian.

  • Your Nevada NuggMD medical cannabis evaluation costs just $89. Or get evaluated for a two-year medical cannabis card for just $109 total. And with NuggMD, you'll never be charged if you don't qualify for cannabis treatment. This cost does not include the additional fees that the state requires to register for a medical cannabis card. Your Nevada state-issued card application that you must complete after being approved by a NuggMD physician will cost $50 for one year, or $100 for two years.

  • Unfortunately, no. But Nevada is one of the more affordable states for MMJ registration. It only costs $50 per year to register with the state, and dispensaries usually give discounts to patients.

  • To acquire a Nevada medical marijuana card you must be a resident with a state-issued driver's license or ID. There are no age restrictions but patients under 18 are required to have a caregiver. A patient must have one of the qualifying medical conditions, a doctor's recommendation, complete all the required paperwork, and pay all the fees.

  • Qualifying conditions for a Nevada medical card include: Acquired immune deficiency syndrome, anxiety disorders, autism spectrum disorders, autoimmune diseases, anorexia nervosa, cancer, dependence upon or addiction to opioids, glaucoma, cachexia, muscle spasms, including, without limitation, spasms caused by multiple sclerosis, seizures, including, without limitation, seizures caused by epilepsy, nausea, severe or chronic pain, a medical condition related to the human immunodeficiency virus, a neuropathic condition, whether or not such condition causes seizures.

  • The list of qualifying medical conditions is provided by the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health (DPBH). If your condition is not listed you may not be approved for the state’s medical marijuana program, but the list is broad enough that most patients qualify.

  • No. Health insurance will not cover the fees required to submit a medical marijuana application in the state of Nevada because cannabis is federally illegal. If federal law changes, this may impact how health insurers view medical marijuana use.

  • Local residents of Nevada will gain many benefits from utilizing the Medical Cannabis Card Program as opposed to Recreational users. A few of these med card benefits include:

-An exemption from the state's 10% retail excise tax

-A larger possession limit -- 2.5 ounces of flower vs. 1 ounce of flower for recreational users -- 10,000mg of THC in combined concentrates or edibles vs. 3,500mg for recreational users.

-Approval to cultivate your own cannabis within 25 miles of a dispensary -- You must qualify for a specific exemption, ask your NuggMD Doctor if this is something you require

Applying for a Nevada Medical Card

  • As soon as you've completed the NuggMD process, you will receive an email with a detailed PDF going over every single aspect of how to signup and the process for completing it. You will need to create an account with the Nevada State Medical Marijuana Program. From there, it's just a matter of following the steps. But don't worry if you get confused, the Cannabis Concierge team can walk you through the entire process at no extra charge.

  • With NuggMD registering and connecting with a licensed physician can be accomplished in an hour. Creating a profile and filling out the application through Nevada’s state portal should take no longer. Once a completed application is submitted, a response from the state can take up to 48 hours. If approved you’ll receive a temporary card that you can print and use until you receive an official card within 3-7 days.

  • If you lost or did not receive your NV med card, send an image of your state issued ID or Driver's License (front and back) along with an explanation of what happened to mmregistry@health.nv.gov and request a new card.

  • With NuggMD, you are ONLY charged for your evaluation if you are approved. We believe everyone deserves access to a qualified medical cannabis doctor, and the cost of an evaluation shouldn’t be a barrier.

  • You'll need to renew your card annually if you pay for a one year registration. You can also register for two years, although the registration fee is still $50 per year.

  • Yes. In Nevada any Doctor of Medicine can authorize a medical marijuana application. All physicians with NuggMD are licensed for the state in which they provide evaluations to patients. They also hold all required cannabis training and certifications.

  • It costs just $89 to get your Nevada renewal evaluation with NuggMD. Or get evaluated for a two-year medical cannabis card for just $109 total. And with NuggMD, you'll never be charged if you don't qualify for cannabis treatment.

  • You’ll only be charged if you’re approved for your medical marijuana certification. If not, your evaluation is free! If you sign up and pay for your evaluation, but then cancel before your evaluation, there is a small $10 fee for the payment processing. You can also change your mind after your evaluation if you wish and request a refund, but you must do so before the doctor has provided your signed Attending Physician Statement. Once your signed Attending Physician Statement has been provided, a refund for services will no longer be available. Please send an email to support@nuggmd.com with the subject line “Refund Request” and a brief description of your issue. We want to make sure you’re 100% satisfied with your purchase being that you, the customer, are the most important thing to us! Once a refund has been initiated, please allow 3-5 business days for the funds to transfer back to the card you used for the transaction. If any issues arise, please feel free to reach back out for further assistance.

  • No. While you won't be charged for your NuggMD evaluation if you don't receive a recommendation, Nevada will not issue any refunds for payments submitted to the state before the status determination. It's very unlikely for this to happen though.

  • Yes. Nevada doesn't discriminate against medical marijuana patients with criminal records.

How to Use Your Nevada Medical Card

  • Nevada medical cannabis patients can purchase flower, concentrates, edibles and topicals. Patients can also grow as many as 12 plants at home if they are unable to find the strain they need at a dispensary or live more than 25 miles from the nearest dispensary.

  • The state maintains a list of legal medical marijuana dispensaries.

  • A new law just came into effect that increases possession limits for recreational users to match the limits for registered card holders. Now, both can purchase up to 2.5 ounces of flower, or up to a quarter ounce of concentrates.

Learn more about Nevada's cannabis laws and regulations.

  • The new law changing possession limits just went into effect and the Board hasn't updated purchase limits on its website, but edibles purchases will generally be limited by the amount of concentrate they contain.

  • Medical cannabis possession limits haven't changed with the new law. Patients can purchase up to 2.5 ounces of cannabis or 10,000 mg of THC-infused products every 14 days.

  • It used to be. In 2017, the excise tax for medical marijuana was raised to 15% so that it matched the recreational excise tax rate.. But since medical sales are exempt from the additional 10% retail excise tax, medical users still pay less than recreational, although their tax burden is now 13% higher than it used to be.

  • Yes. Both medical and recreational cannabis now have the same 15% excise tax on the supply line, and they have the same local tax rates. But only recreational sales are subject to the additional 10% excise tax on retail sales. Medical cannabis purchases are exempt from that particular tax. So, if you're visiting from out of state, don't forget to bring your card -- it will definitely save you money.

  • You can't get a Nevada medical marijuana card unless you are a resident of a Nevada and have a Nevada State ID. BUT, if you have a valid cannabis recommendation from another state, and an Out of State ID or Passport, you can use that recommendation to purchase medical cannabis at a Nevada dispensary and save the 10% retail tax. Nevada keeps an updated list of its MMJ reciprocity states.

  • The following are acceptable forms of identification for verifying the lawful sale of marijuana or marijuana product:

"A retail marijuana store shall refuse the sale of marijuana or marijuana products to anyone, unless such person can produce a form of valid identification showing that the purchaser is 21 years of age or older. If the identification contains a picture and date of birth, the kind and type of identification deemed adequate shall be limited to the following, as long as such identification is valid and not expired: (a) An operator’s, chauffeur’s or similar type driver’s license or instruction permit, issued by any state within the United States or any U.S. Territory; (b) An identification card, issued by any state for the purpose of proof of age; (c) A United States military identification card; (d) A Merchant Marine identification card issued by the United States Coast Guard; (e) A passport; and (f) An enrollment card issued by the governing authority of a federally recognized Indian tribe located in the state of Nevada, if the enrollment card incorporates proof of age requirements."

  • Yes, you can give or otherwise deliver up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana, or up to 1/4 of an ounce of concentrated marijuana without remuneration to person provided that the transaction is not advertised or promoted to the public.

  • All Nevada dispensaries now serve both medical and recreational consumers, so patients can purchase medical cannabis at any dispensary in Nevada.

  • Yes, Each purchase you make at a licensed Nevada dispensary is tracked in a statewide database. When you purchase cannabis at one dispensary, the other dispensaries in the state will know the amount of cannabis you have remaining in your purchase limit.

  • Absolutely not. It's a maximum fine of $600 and a misdemeanor to smoke in public or in a moving vehicle. NRS 45D.400

  • Recent legislation was passed in Nevada permitting cannabis consumption lounges and cannabis consumption lounges are slowly opening up across the state.

  • You can transport your cannabis home in Nevada in your car, but it's illegal to use cannabis in your car, or for your passengers to use it in the car. Doing so will result in a DUI, so keep your cannabis in a sealed container out of reach or in your trunk till you get home.

  • Yes, Nevada allows licensed establishments to register with the compliance board to engage in delivery sales of cannabis to residents. Local municipalities can ban deliveries and often do.

  • This depends on the state to which you’re traveling. Each state has different rules regarding reciprocity, and some don’t allow it at all. Check with your destination state to learn more.

  • 6 for one person, and no more than 12 if two or more adults live on the property. NRS 453D.110 But, you're not allowed to cultivate marijuana within 25 miles of a retail marijuana store for personal use. You also can't cultivate marijuana within public view, outdoors, or on a property that you're not in lawful possession of.

  • You can choose to register for a Nevada medical marijuana card for either 1 or 2 years.

  • Only if you have certain types of safety sensitive jobs. Nevada passed AB132, which make it illegal for most employers to discriminate against most cannabis users.

  • Yes. The law specifically allows landlords to restrict the smoking, cultivation, processing, manufacture, sale, delivery or transfer of cannabis on that property.
