Qualifying Conditions for a Medical Marijuana Card in Nevada
Recreational cannabis is legal in Nevada for adults aged 21 and older. However, many consumers recognize that there are still several important reasons to get a Nevada medical marijuana card. Patients have no cannabis excise tax and can cultivate their own plants under certain circumstances. To get a med card in Nevada, patients must have a qualifying condition and meet several other prerequisites.
List of Qualifying Conditions for a Nevada Medical Marijuana Card
Presently, Nevada authorizes physicians to recommend medical cannabis for the following qualifying conditions. Other conditions may be subject to approval through the Nevada DPBH (Division of Public and Behavioral Health).
- An anxiety disorder;
- An autism spectrum disorder;
- An autoimmune disease;
- Anorexia nervosa;
- Cancer;
- Dependence upon or addiction to opioids;
- Glaucoma;
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD);
- A medical condition or treatment for a medical condition that produces, for a specific patient, one or more of the following: Cachexia; Muscle spasms, including, without limitation, spasms caused by multiple sclerosis; Seizures, including, without limitation, seizures caused by epilepsy; Nausea; or Severe or chronic pain;
- The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and any medical condition related to the human immunodeficiency virus;
- A neuropathic condition, whether or not such condition causes seizures or
- Any other medical condition or treatment for a medical condition that is: Classified as a chronic or debilitating medical condition by regulation of the Division or Approved as a chronic or debilitating medical condition pursuant to a petition submitted.
How to Qualify for Medical Marijuana in Nevada
“Do you have to be a resident to get a medical card?” The short answer is yes, but it isn’t the only stipulation for getting approved. You must meet a few baseline criteria to meet the Nevada medical card requirements.
- Be at least 18 years of age (or have a qualified caregiver if you’re a minor)
- Be a resident of the state of Nevada
- Receive a medical cannabis recommendation from a certified physician.

What Medical Forms Do You Need When Meeting with a Physician in Nevada?

- Photo ID / Proof of Residency
